Warcraft, Spore and my Hunter Guide.

September 6, 2008 at 8:45 pm (1) (, , , , )

First off, i still really need to write down my game ideas. I’ll do that asap.

Next off, my warcraft alts. I’m now down to 12 days and i’ve still got 9 levels left to get my 3 lvl 27s up to lvl 30. I then have to get all 5 of my level 30s professions up to 225 and buy my engineering recipes.

I think my main aims will be to buy the recipes and get the alts up to 30. That should be fairly straight foreword to do in the time.

I’ve been working on adding images to my Hunter Guide recently and the first 3 chapters are now done, save 2 posts that will be left until Lich King. I have most recently added a video to the guide, which can be found at http://artanishunterguide.wordpress.com/2008/07/21/about-kiting/.

Lastly is Spore. I have played on it all day today and i have to say it is brilliant. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested. My only disappointments were with how short the first two stages of the game were and how the creator outside of the main game allows so many parts. For example having access to spaceship parts when making a boat simply annoys me. Apart from those small points i am really enjoying the game so far and nearly have two separate creatures up to the tribe stage, one is there already.

Anyway i hope people are test driving spore, but make time to check out my kiting video =]

Artanis’s Hunter Guide

July 21, 2008 at 10:14 am (Main News) (, , , , , , )

I have pretty much finished the first set of updates. This is by far the biggest update the site has had and most likily ever will do. It took a lot of work completely reworing fonts and layouts but it’s all sorted now.

Images seem not to be appearing currently which is a problem, but i’ve laid out a list of odds and ends to sort out so it’s not too much of a problem. My current tasks are taking a screenshot for each post and finishing off the few posts i havn’t done. After that, i can begin work on other posts.

I also need to somehow create a Forum. This will most likily be added onto my main site, with the hunter guide just being a section of it. However i’ve never done anything of the kind before so it’s going to take a lot of work.

I also have work to do writting other posts, and i have a website to design and another to update. Not to mention posting here a little more and getting some free time to do what i want!

Well i’m glad i got it updated at last, it’s taken a huge weight off my mind. =)

Hunter Guide Art Competition

July 19, 2008 at 6:43 pm (Contests) (, , , , )

Ok so i am running an art competition for the homepage of my new hunter guide.

  • The image must be of a hunter. It most show the hunters  head, all the way down to  the knees .
  • A female draenei will be preferred, although not necessarily needed.
  • If the figure could have two duel wield weapons at waist and bow in hand that would be great.

  • The rest is up to you.

The winner will receive a large amount of gold for their main character (200-500g depending on how hard it is to make the gold). Their image will be printed on the front of the guides homepage, and the written guide, and their name will be noted on the image at the bottom right.

Runners up will have the chance to have their work published else where in the guide along with their name.

All entries must be sent to pie_masters@hotmail.co.uk with the name “Art Competition”

I wish you all the best of luck!

Hunter Guide Updates

July 19, 2008 at 4:43 pm (Main News, Warcraft) (, , , , , )

After two weeks spent on holiday I had a long time to think about what to do with my upcoming reworked Hunter Guide. After lengthy consideration i decided that the entire guide will be available on my current guide blog for free.

Anyone interested i in for a real treat. This guide will cover pretty much every subject and in my opinion will surpass any other guide out there, free of at a price. I can say that because i have read many of the top quality guides out there and feel that what i have done not only goes into more detail, but has a higher quality to it as well.

The big news is that i will be releasing the first 4 chapters out relatively soon. The rest will be laid out and posted once i have written it. I hope that every post will have a relevant screenshot and there will even be videos to help out with certain sections.

The guide is not based at any single level, allowing it to have as much use to almost every player and not go out of date with patches and expansions. It can also be very easily updated and even has slots ready to add and update information for Wrath of the Lich King.

But don’t worry, if you use the current site that will be remaining, but moved into one section of the same site. It may be slightly more difficult to navigate around but i will do my best to make the entire site user friendly.

Well i’m off to start the project. Wish me luck!

Hunter FAQ

Are hunters good for end game? I want to do a lot of damage. Is this a good class for me?

Yes it is. From my experiences of raiding guilds, hunters appear at the top of the damage meter most often. This is because hunters can do reasonable damage over a short time, but most importantly can keep up this steady damage through long fights. Warlocks excel with groups, and mages with trash fights and short bosses, but hunters really push ahead in those longer boss fights lasting over five minutes, just because they are more sustainable than the other ranged classes.

I want to be helpful to my group. Is this a good class for me?

Yes, as you can do high damage when needed, you can Crowd Control in different ways such as freezing and frost trap, with others as well. Traps for different situations, different stings for different mobs. You can pull some difficult mobs to the group without drawing aggro. Lastly, having your own mini tank, and other CC methods depending on which way you spec.

Is it possible to play a Hunter without using a pet?

A question I wanted to know when I chose the hunter. You can play without your pet, although they can be helpful. When questing they aren’t a need, but they make life easier and I don’t suggest not using it when you have the choice. Having a pet doesn’t make you worse off than other classes if it’s dead. Hunters are the only other class with pets Hunters just have their pet to help keep mobs away to shot at.

Is it possible to play a melee-oriented Hunter?

Basically, I’ll just say no. Up to level 30ish you can.. but what’s the point. Your bow does so much more! The only reason for a hunter to melee is to try and help you get away. Hunters only get two melee spells. A big hit, with a long cool down, and a small hit which slows the target. What I do, is once the target gets near run at it, use both skills so hit it hard, and slow it down, then run away and continue shooting it. This should be the only melee you use. If you want a melee class pick a rogue or warrior..

What’s the spec for levelling?

All three are fine. I used marksmanship and didn’t have much problem. However the best is beast mastery. It lets your pet become a lot more part of the game, making your life easier. Your pet becomes a better tank, letting you deal more damage without drawing aggro as easily. This saves time, and is far easier, but a lot people find it less fun. It’s really worth testing all three, and choose the one that works best for you.

There are too many Hunters. How do I distinguish myself?

Become really good at a certain aspect of the class. Make your own unique talent spec, and specialize in dealing damage, or in CC, or getting a high amount of crit and dodge. Or just try to become a great all round hunter.

Another way is to become well known by the different aspects of the game, such as exploration, solo group quests and using different ranges of CC to show a sign of skill. I personally started to get known by soloing many 5 man quests, kiting rares that would need many players to kill.

Also, to try to be the first to do different things, such as getting top level on the server, to get a rare mount or obtain certain gear or recipes. Get all the rare recipes and announce that you can craft them, getting known as the main crafter of that trade.

One of the last main ways is to become a guild master. Lots of people will look up to you, and if you do well, you will become really famous. Even if you’re just a normal member, people will remember you.

Just have fun, show your personality and always try to be friendly.

Are hunters easy to play?

I have tried out every class, with many high levels, and I will say no, they are one hardest to play if you haven’t got the right technique. This is due to the dead zone. Any other class can attack as normal with a mob attacking them (save longer cast time), where as the hunter cannot shoot away.

Although if you can keep at range, then they can be very easy depending on your situation. I think it’s a great varying class, easy at times, hard at others, and well worth a try out!
